The PICTAIL 2 mounting system is the updated version of the iRay-AC52 PICTAIL. It combines a standard dovetail shoe commonly used on helmet-mounted night vision optics with the MIL-STD-1913 Picatinny rail interface used across a wide range of optical mounting applications. The PICTAIL 2 was redesigned to increase compatibility with new helmet and optical mounting hardware that has entered the market since its original creation, while maintaining compatibility with standard dovetail receptacles used in helmet mounting systems from Wilcox, KVC, and others.
The integration of these two mounting formats creates a system that is both precise and versatile for optical mounting applications while preserving full dovetail functionality for helmet use.
The counterpart to the dovetail side of the PICTAIL shoe is a MIL-STD-1913 Picatinny rail interface, specially designed with a single slot that mates with the ADM MQD mount. Together, the PICTAIL and MQD provide an adjustable mounting footprint on any standard Picatinny rail. In standalone optic configurations, they provide more than 4.5 inches of rear offset. When reversed for clip-on configurations, the MQD and PICTAIL reduce rear offset to just 1.5 inches. In clip-on mode, only four rail slots are required in front of a primary optic, making the PICTAIL and MQD an ideal solution for compact platforms where rail space is limited.
iRayUSA partnered with Ultimate Night Vision to redesign and produce the PICTAIL 2. iRayUSA also continues its partnership with American Defense Manufacturing to produce the MQD, delivering ADM’s trusted Picatinny mounting solution.
